Will Blog for Free Toffee

A week or so ago, I was contacted by a marketer from See’s Candies asking if I’d like to receive a free sample of my choice to use in a dessert. In return, they asked that I mention their Easter candy is now available. I know that some bloggers may feel uncomfortable with this type of solicitation, but I’m not having a hard time with this one. My policy is if I like the product or find it useful I will put it out there. I’ve always done this, even though, up till now, I never got anything in exchange.

I have to say, it’s pretty funny that a chocolate candy company would offer to send me a free sample. To use in a dessert, no less. I’m not much of a chocolate fan and I tend to stay out of the sweet kitchen. So I guess it shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone that I chose the Victoria Toffee. When I got it, the first thing I did was crush some up to sprinkle on top of homemade vanilla ice cream. Not quite the most creative way to use it, but it tasted simply fantastic. I am planning on using some of it in a cake/torte of some type. And if the stars line up right, I’ll be able to post about that soon.

Got any other good ideas? They sent me a pound of the toffee, so I've got a bit to work with. Let me know quick, because I have a feeling that I won’t be able to keep the candy monsters away for very long.

I love See's Candies, wouldn't have to force me to take a pound of it either. ;)

Pam, I think our blog names got sold to marketers or something because I've gotten a few solicitations in the last 2 weeks. That's compared with zero in the last 2 years! And other bloggers have been commenting that they are being contacted as well.

WC, I know, right? Free candy. If I had turned that down, I'd have a mutiny on my hands. LOL

I'll look forward to seeing what you do with your 1/3# of toffee. That is all you have left now, right? Darn toffee monsters! I have no useful suggestions, and I'm sure it wouldn't make a good cocktail (should I worry that my mind always goes in that direction??). Good luck!

I'd like to get me some schwag--especially if it's toffee! Where do I sign up?

Now that's a lot of toffee! Well, hey, they can contact me any time! The See's toffee looks wonderful, and I like how you've crunched it up as a topping!

I love See's toffee. It is really excellent stuff. Simply great eating plain.
Also, I love toffee and chocolate chip cookies.
My hubby suggested toffee coffee. not sure how to incorporate into coffee.

So it seems toffee flavored drinks may be in our future, but probably not using the candy. I'll have to think a little about that.

Tove, too late. There's just a small chunk left, and it will be a miracle if it lasts the weekend.

I made toffee cake with See's toffee-ettes. It tasted great. :)
