Happy (belated) Thanksgiving!

Despite what I said in my previous post, I didn’t cook a turkey this year. And you know what? The world didn’t implode! I don’t feel lost. In fact, I feel thankful. Not about not making turkey, but about life in general. I’ll spare you my philosophical gurglings, but suffice it to say, I’m bursting with thankfulness.

You see, Sonny was sick. So sick, in fact, that on Tuesday we decided to cancel our annual Thanksgiving party. After days of nursing a sick child with a mysterious illness (that showed signs of being bacterial, but thankfully ended up being viral), all I could think about was helping him get better. I couldn’t even fathom the idea of entertaining 20 people.

But don’t worry, Sonny’s better now! Woke up on Thanksgiving morning fever-free. Just like that. Disappeared as quickly as it started. In fact, you would never even guess the little booger was sick.

So we didn’t do the big shindig, but we still had a nice little celebration. The upside to being just the three of us is we got to do it the way we wanted. We set an elegant table with candles and wine glasses (Sonny had Gatorade). Then we sat down, in our pajamas (that's right, we stayed in our pajamas all day!) to a simple meal. It turned out to be a very nice Thanksgiving after all.

Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Aw, I'm glad Sonny's okay now. Health scare excepted, that sounds like a pretty perfect holiday for me :)

Thank you Mary and manggy. It was a bit scary for a few days there. And it was perfect just to have my kid healthy again.

So glad Sonny is healthy again. It can be pretty scary when they're little. Happy Thanksgiving!

Thank you WC! I remember him being sick with a stomach bug when he was about 2. He was barely talking at the time, and I kept thinking that I wished he was older so he could tell me what's going on, where it hurts, etc. Now he's older and it is still hard, but in a different way. Let's just hope this will be his only major illness of the season.

BTW, I'm not feeling so great myself :-(

Poor Sonny (and mommy!). Glad he is all better. They are so resilient.
I would have been thankful too if I could have stayed in my pj's all of Thanksgiving. How wonderful.

Btw, I just checked out your flicker album for the first time. Amazing photography and food. I was blown away.

qgirl, the pajamas thing was kinda funny. We set a nice table with candles and hubby was like "but can we eat in our pajamas?" So why not? But we changed into new pajamas for bed because we normally shower at night :-)

Oh, and thanks about the flickr! Hubby convinced me to open the account a few months back and I was hooked on it for a while. That's why I'm worried about starting a facebook account. I'm sure I'll be hanging around there all day :-)

I am not on Facebook yet either. I don't know if I want people from my past to find me. :)

qgirl, and that's another thing! We're definitely on the same wavelength there!

It sounds like you had the perfect thanksgiving! Who doesn't like staying in the PJ's all day? I too could live without turkey and not feel robbed.

Jason, I have to admit, staying in our pjs is a habit of ours, particularly on cold, winter Sundays. But it felt extra luxuriously lazy on Thanksgiving!
